 Fresno Handy Rides

What is it?
Handy Ride is a reservation-based, demand responsive service, providing curb-to-curb transportation for qualified senior and disabled persons within the Fresno Area Express (FAX) service area.

Who may use it?
Service is available to those persons who, because of the nature of their disability, are unable to use the FAX fixed-route system. Additionally, individuals who are 62 years of age or older are eligible to use Handy Ride. To qualify as a "certified" (reduced fare) rider, you must complete either the ADA Handy Ride certification process or the General Handy Ride Certification. For additional information or policy clarifications, please call 621-5802.

Handy Ride hours of operation (including phone services) are:

Monday---Friday . . . .5:30 a.m.---10:00 p.m.

Saturday . . . . . . . . . 6:30 a.m.---7:00 p.m.

Sunday . . . . . . . . . . 6:30 a.m.---7:00 p.m.

Fares:

General public . . . . . $3.75

Certified persons . . .  75 cents

To make reservations: Call 443-5650 or 443-5662 (TDD) to place a reservation. Persons who are ADA Handy Ride Certified may make reservations the day before their desired trip. Reservation hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. When calling in to make trip reservations, please state your name first. The Reservations Clerk will then ask a series of questions regarding pick-up time, pick-up location, destination, etc., in order to schedule the requested trip.

Service will be provided on a space available basis for non-ADA Certified persons.
